Did you know that one in every six Ohioans struggle to put food on the table each and every day? We didn’t either… Not until we sat down with the great folks at the Mid Ohio Foodbank (MOFB). You’ve heard the stories and undoubtedly heard about the mission set-forth by the MOFB. If you haven’t, it’s pretty simple. It is to provide an outlet or a relief for those who don’t always know where their next meal is coming from. They source quality product from hundreds of donors throughout central Ohio, inspect it and redistribute it to partnering agencies (food pantries, soup kitchens, daycare programs and shelters) where it meets the needs of more than 250,000 people.
When considering this mission, it is easy to understand the natural synergy that exists between an organization like the MOBF and cattle farmers and ranchers that take pride in growing a quality product that can serve the needs of a growing nation. Take that synergy and add the likes of Kroger and the Columbus Clippers who continually display the upmost interest in our local community. What do you get?
Here’s your answer; Striking Out Hunger with Lean Beef.
What’s the premise? Simple…
strikeout recorded by the Clipper’s pitching staff in 2012, Ohio’s cattle farmers and Kroger will donate two pounds of lean ground beef to the MOFB. Just one pound of lean ground beef can provide a family of four with ten essential vitamins and nutrients and offer them a laundry list of meal-time options when 6 p.m. rolls around. At this point in the season, we are proud to share that 3,352 lean beef meals have been raised for the MOFB.
Most importantly, we’d like to invite you to join our team. Our goal is to hit the 10,000 meal mark by season’s end. Help Ohio’s cattle farmers get this down. Here’s the link
, donate as little as one pound today.
And remember - Beef, It's What's For Dinner!
